A team that started in 1999
Our team was founded in 1999, which makes it twenty-seven years as of 2026. Most of that time has gone into the west of China: Qinghai, Gansu, Tibet, Xinjiang, Sichuan and the old Silk Road. Staying in one region for decades is a different kind of knowledge from reading about it the week before you travel.
It is the sort of thing that shows up in small ways. Which stretch of road closes after heavy rain. Which hotel keeps its heating steady through a cold snap. What time a famous site is quietest, so you see it rather than the backs of other visitors. None of that is on a website, and it is why long-standing local teams still matter.
What the years have built
Time in a region builds relationships as much as knowledge. The drivers, guides and hotel managers we work with are people we have dealt with across many seasons, which is how we can keep the same standard whether you travel in a busy July or a quiet November.
- Around 150 itinerary specialists worldwide, shared across the group.
- Offices in Xining, Beijing and Xi'an.
- Long-standing relationships with local drivers, guides and hotels.
- Itemised pricing and a private vehicle that never carries strangers.
How that reaches your itinerary
A long-established team is not a guarantee by itself, so we try to make the benefit concrete. Your daily plan reflects realistic driving times, sensible hotel positions and a pace that suits the season you are travelling in. When a plan has to change on the road, experience is what lets us change it quickly.
When to just ask us
If you want to understand how we would handle a specific region or a tricky month, ask. Someone answers every day from 09:00 to 21:00 Beijing time, and the same consultant stays with your trip throughout.
