The classic full-length cruise
The standard Guilin to Yangshuo sailing takes about four hours on a four-star boat, and lunch is normally included. The route passes the landmarks most people have seen in photographs, including the Nine Horse Painting Hill and the reflection at Yellow Cloth Shoal.
Sitting on deck and watching the karst peaks slide past is the most complete version of the Li River experience, and for many guests it is the highlight of the whole trip.
The shorter alternative
If four hours sounds long, the Xingping section takes roughly an hour and a half and still delivers the classic limestone scenery. It suits tighter schedules and families with younger children who may not sit still for a full morning.
- Full route: about four hours, lunch included, the most complete experience
- Xingping section: about an hour and a half, the highlights in less time
- We adjust the rest of the day around whichever you choose
- Boat schedules can shift with water levels and weather, so we reconfirm before departure
What to watch out for
Boat timings are not entirely predictable. Water levels and weather occasionally force changes, which is why we build a little flexibility into the day rather than tying it to a rigid plan.
If photography matters to you, boarding early and choosing a seat by the window makes a real difference, especially on the busier sailings.
What surrounds the cruise
The boat is only part of the day, and how the rest of it is arranged often decides how much you enjoy the sailing. We book the tickets and the transfer together, meet you at your hotel and make sure you are aboard with time to settle before the boat leaves the bank.
On the water we point out which stretches are worth standing on deck for, since the best-known scenery comes in short bursts rather than throughout. After the boat docks at Yangshuo, the same vehicle and guide are waiting to carry you on, so the day continues without a scramble for transport.
When to just ask us
Tell us your preferred pace and how much time you have in Guilin, and we will suggest the shorter or longer cruise accordingly. The initial consultation and draft itinerary are free.
The same consultant arranges the tickets and the transfers and remains available on WhatsApp throughout your stay.
