Altitude & health

Is it good for elderly parents?

Very good, because it is our lowest-altitude and lowest-walking route. Most sights are reached by vehicle or by boat on the Li River, so there is little climbing, and the pace can stay slow. We schedule shorter days and choose hotels close to the sights to cut unnecessary walking.

Why Guangxi suits slower travellers

Guangxi is the lowest-altitude route we run and the one with the least walking. Around Guilin and Yangshuo the ground is flat, and most of the famous sights are reached by vehicle or by boat rather than on foot, so older guests can see everything without long stretches of standing or climbing.

The Li River cruise, the Yulong River rafts, the Sun and Moon Pagodas and Elephant Trunk Hill are all easy days. Between them we build in time to sit, rest and eat, which matters more than any single sight.

What a typical day looks like

We keep days short and put the gentler activities in the middle of the day, when energy is usually lowest.

  • Hotels chosen close to the sights to cut unnecessary walking.
  • Lower-floor or lift-adjacent rooms arranged on request.
  • Drinking water kept in the vehicle.
  • Window seats on the cruise for photographs without standing.
  • Meals adjusted to lighter, less oily cooking when you prefer it.

Meals and comfort

Guangxi cooking is generally mild, and we can ask restaurants for dishes that are lighter and less oily without losing the local character. If someone in the group takes medication on a schedule, tell us and we will set the day's timing around it rather than squeezing it in.

The climate is kind for most of the year, with warm, humid summers and mild winters. Light, breathable clothing works best, and a thin layer helps on the boat in the early morning breeze.

A common misunderstanding

Some guests worry that a tailor-made trip means a demanding schedule. It is the opposite: the point of a private itinerary is that the pace is yours. Nothing here requires fitness, and almost every highlight can be reached without stairs.

When to just ask us

Tell us the ages and health of everyone travelling and we will set the daily rhythm, choose the right hotels and confirm how much walking each day involves. If a wheelchair or other support is needed, we can look into the options before you arrive.

Still unsure? Just ask.
