Why some travellers prefer a car only
A car-only booking includes the vehicle and the driver but not commentary or guiding inside the sights. It suits guests who already know the history and the background and simply want to be moved safely from one place to the next. We understand that need completely and arrange it often.
Others are travelling with grandparents or young children and want to set their own pace, without being tied to a fixed commentary schedule. For these guests a calm, experienced driver who knows the road is more comfortable than a guide talking all day.
What the driver does, and what he does not
Our drivers run these routes constantly, so they know which stretches get congested, which service areas are clean and where it is worth pulling over for a photograph. You do not have to study the map or hunt for a petrol station; hand the route to the driver and keep your attention for the scenery and the people you are with.
- Vehicle matched to your group: two, four or six guests each get a suitable car.
- Luggage space checked ahead: we confirm how many cases you have so nothing is squeezed.

- Single-day guide: if you want commentary at a few sights only, we can add a guide for that day.
What to watch out for
Our drivers mostly speak Mandarin and may not manage Cantonese. If you need Cantonese throughout, we pair you with a Cantonese-speaking guide who liaises with the driver and with local staff, so language never becomes your problem. The driver and the guide are always two different people under our arrangements.
On long driving days we assign a car with more comfortable seating so the hours on the road are less tiring. Where a route reaches high altitude or changeable weather, the driver will adjust the stops and rest breaks to suit the conditions.
