From Hong Kong: two workable routes

Hong Kong travellers reach Zhangjiajie most directly on the flights that link Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport with Hong Kong. That route runs to a seasonal timetable, so whether it operates, and how often it flies in any given week, depends on the airline's current schedule. If your dates fall outside it, you can fly to Changsha first and continue by high-speed rail or private car, which often gives you more choice of times.

Another common approach is to cross into Shenzhen or Guangzhou and take high-speed rail up through Hunan, with our driver meeting the last leg. Each option trades something: a direct flight saves time but has limited departures, rail is reliable and easy with luggage, and a connection depends entirely on how well the timings join up.

From Taiwan: connections that actually work

Taiwan travellers usually fly first to Changsha, Guangzhou or Xiamen, then continue on a domestic flight or by high-speed rail to Zhangjiajie. If you would rather not change planes twice, flying into Changsha and taking the train onward is a comfortable alternative, with scenery along the way and enough room for children and older guests.

The thing that goes wrong with connections is the gap between them. We normally build in a generous buffer and place the onward train or car after your arrival, so a delay on the first flight does not unravel the whole day.

What happens once you land

  • Airport or station pickup with your name on a board, numbers and luggage confirmed beforehand.
  • Luggage storage if you arrive before your room is ready.
  • A vehicle chosen for your group size, never shared with strangers.
  • If a flight or train changes, tell us and we adjust the driver's timing.

A common misunderstanding

Many guests assume they must fly into Zhangjiajie itself to do things in the right order. Entering and leaving via Changsha is often the more flexible choice, particularly if you want to add Changsha or Fenghuang to the trip. Others assume rail is always slower than flying; with a smooth connection, the total journey time is not necessarily longer.

When to just ask us

Send us your departure city, dates and group size and we will compare direct flights, connections and rail, then arrange tickets and transfers together. Fares and timetables change through the year, so treat the choice of route as the thing to decide, not the numbers.

Still unsure? Just ask.
